Flare je EVM-based layer 1, jehož cílem je učinit blockchain užitečnější tím, že vývojářům poskytuje decentralizovaný přístup k datům s vysokou integritou z jiných řetězců a internetu. To umožňuje nové případy použití a modely monetizace a zároveň umožňuje dappům obsluhu více řetězců prostřednictvím jednoho nasazení.
Flare vyvinul dva vlastní protokoly pro interoperabilitu, které umožňují decentralizované získávání dat z blockchainu, časových řad a Web2 API. Protokoly jsou zabezpečeny samotnou sítí, přičemž decentralizovaní, nezávislí poskytovatelé dat jsou motivováni k poskytování přesných dat. Tímto způsobem Flare minimalizuje rizika pro uživatele a vývojáře. State Connector bezpečně získává informace o událostech z jiných blockchainů a internetu, které jsou využívány ve smart kontraktech na Flare. Tato data jsou získávána bezpečně, škálovatelně a decentralizovaně, přičemž sada nezávislých poskytovatelů ověřování musí dosáhnout konsensu o platnosti události, než mohou být informace zpřístupněny aplikacím na síti. FLR je nativní token používaný pro platby, transakční poplatky k prevenci spamových útoků a staking ve validačních uzlech. FLR lze také zabalit do varianty ERC-20, WFLR. Tokeny WFLR slouží k různým funkcím; mohou být například delegovány na poskytovatele dat FTSO nebo použity k účasti na správě. Tyto dvě použití nejsou vzájemně výlučná a nebrání používání těchto tokenů v jiných EVM-kompatibilních decentralizovaných aplikacích a chytrých kontraktech na platformě Flare. Zabalené FLR (WFLR) lze vytvořit vložením nativních tokenů FLR do chytrého kontraktu a následným výběrem nově vytvořených WFLR.
Genesis hlavní sítě Flare proběhl 14. července 2022, po kterém následovala událost veřejné distribuce tokenů (TDE) 9. ledna 2023. Celková dostupná nabídka při vzniku byla 100 miliard FLR, z čehož po TDE bylo okamžitě v oběhu 12 miliard FLR. Veřejná distribuce tokenů pokračuje po dobu 36 měsíčních splátek, které komunitě poskytují celkem 28 524 921 372 FLR. Flare je inflační síť s 10% nárůstem oběhové nabídky v prvním roce. Tato nově vytvořená FLR jsou poskytována poskytovatelům dat Oracle Flare Time Series a držitelům tokenů, kteří k nim delegují (70 %), za účelem zabezpečení decentralizovaného poskytování cenových údajů pro síť, validátorům (20 %) a poskytovatelům ověřovací služby State Connector (10 %).
Flare bylo založeno Hugem Philionem, Seanem Rowanem a Dr. Nairim Usherem, kteří nyní zastávají pozice generálního ředitele, technického ředitele a hlavního vědeckého pracovníka. Setkali se během studia strojového učení na University College London, kde sdíleli zájem o distribuované systémy a jejich možné aplikace.
