Airbus warns customers: Prepare yourselves for further delays

Engine shortage persists: Airbus warns airlines and leasing companies of further delays in aircraft deliveries.

The European aircraft manufacturer Airbus is once again concerned about the availability of engines and other aircraft parts. According to insider reports, the company is preparing its customers, including airlines and leasing companies, for the possibility of delayed deliveries again in the years 2024 and 2025. The reason for this is the stuttering supply of necessary parts, reports the news agency Reuters.

Officially, Airbus does not comment on the possible impacts on deliveries. However, a spokesperson for the group confirms that they remain in close contact with customers and continue to work in a complex environment.

"Nevertheless, Airbus managed to increase its delivery record by 50 percent in January, after already facing parts shortages and supply chain issues at the start of 2023."

Experts believe, however, that the scarcity of engines and other aircraft parts will persist for a long time. At an aviation conference in Dublin, industry representatives expressed concern about the delivery times for Airbus and Boeing short-haul aircraft.

The head of the leasing company Air Lease, Steven Udvar-Hazy, complained that delays of one year, nine months, or even eight months have now become the norm.

Despite these challenges, Airbus was able to exceed its delivery target of 735 aircraft last year. For the current year, analysts at Jefferies expect the group to aim to deliver even up to 800 aircraft.

The following Thursday, Airbus will present its financial figures for 2023.

The aircraft industry continues to face bottlenecks in key parts, which could affect deliveries.

Despite this, Airbus remains optimistic and continues to count on an increase in delivery numbers this year. Investors and shareholders will eagerly await the company's financial figures and closely monitor further market developments.
