Elon Musk presents Tesla's new fleet: A journey into the autonomous future

The long-awaited day for Tesla CEO Elon Musk has arrived: During the "We, Robot" event at the Warner Bros. Discovery Studios in Burbank, California, Musk unveiled an impressive array of autonomous marvels. Despite an almost hour-long delay caused by a medical emergency, the excitement of Tesla fans was unbroken as the new Robo-Taxi, accompanied by an AI robot named Optimus and a driverless Robo-Van, finally saw the light of day. The Cybercab model, with Musk himself on board, appeared spectacularly without a steering wheel and pedals, demonstrating the next generation of mobility. In a humorous manner, Musk acknowledged the challenges of autonomous technology, pointing out that the previously announced promises of a million Robo-Taxis by 2020 went unfulfilled. Yet now, with renewed enthusiasm, Musk encouraged the crowd to explore the financial opportunity of using their vehicles as ridesharing units during idle times. In addition to the unveiling of the Cybercab, there was a glimpse of the Robovan, a vehicle with 20 seats, which still awaits a launch date and price. The star of the evening, however, was the AI robot Optimus, who served cocktails in cowboy hats and interacted with guests. Musk highlighted the social component of these machines with a wink: "Please be kind to the Optimus robots, they will walk among you." After the presentation, guests had the opportunity to examine the models up close as the vehicles moved autonomously past them. The introduction of this technology in China and Europe is expected no earlier than next year, subject to regulatory approvals. While the robust self-driving technology may still require some time to become fully market-ready, Tesla once again fueled fans' expectations. It remains exciting to see when the reality of a driverless future will meet the promise.
