Tesla and its charismatic CEO Elon Musk made waves at the unveiling of the new autonomous Robotaxi and a surprisingly introduced Robovan in Los Angeles. The highly anticipated "We, Robot" event began with a slight delay, but the presentation likely exceeded expectations. Musk himself appeared with the "Cybercab," a compact, futuristic-looking taxi without a steering wheel or pedals. This vehicle will be fully autonomous and, according to Musk, is expected to cost less than $30,000, with a market launch between 2026 and 2027. The vision: The vehicles will operate without human intervention and charge wirelessly via induction. Tesla plans to conduct tests for this technology in Texas and California as early as next year. A remarkable surprise of the evening was the Robovan. With space for up to 20 people, the Robovan's design is reminiscent of science fiction classics and is intended for both private and commercial use. However, price and availability remain a secret for now. Another attraction was the humanoid Optimus robots, which Musk presented as future helpers. With a potential price range of $20,000 to $30,000, these robots could spontaneously serve guests and offer drinks. In addition to these fascinating insights, visitors were allowed to experience autonomous rides in the Cybercab as well as in Tesla's Models 3 and Y. Although the eagerly awaited affordable Tesla model was not unveiled, the Cybercab and the new vehicle could be based on the same chassis.
