Apple plans major AI focus for M4 Macs

According to Bloomberg, the new Macs could be released by the end of this year and into 2025.

Apple is on the Verge of Launching a New Generation of Mac Computers Equipped with Innovative M4 Processors. This New Chip Series Emphasizes Strong Focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and is Expected to be Gradually Integrated into the Product Range Starting Later This Year, with Full Introduction by Early 2025. Bloomberg Reported, Citing Insider Sources.

Despite the recent introduction of the MacBook Pro with M3 chip in November 2023, Apple continues to push development forward. The new M4 chip series will be available in at least three performance levels: the entry-level chip Donan, the mid-range chip Brava, and the most powerful chip Hidra. Apple plans to integrate Donan into the entry-level model of the MacBook Pro, the MacBook Airs, and the more affordable Mac Minis. The Brava chip is intended for use in the higher-end MacBook Pros, Mac Minis, and in the Mac Studio, while the Hidra chip is reserved for the high-performance Mac Pro.

The emphasis on the AI capabilities of the M4 is intended to be a response to the increasing competition from so-called "AI PCs" from other manufacturers and the declining sales figures of Macs. The full details of the AI features that Apple plans are likely to be revealed at the annual Worldwide Developers Conference, which takes place on June 10. This strategic move could help Apple strengthen its position in the fiercely competitive PC market and better meet the requirements of modern users.
