Vattenfall's Solar Parks in Schleswig-Holstein: From next year, 120 GWh of electricity for Evonik.

The Energy Company Vattenfall and the Specialty Chemicals Company Evonik Announce They Will Operate Two Solar Parks in Schleswig-Holstein Starting Next Year. The Agreements Have a Ten-Year Duration and Include Fixed Terms for the Supply of Approximately 120 Gigawatt-hours of Electricity Annually.

This amount of electricity corresponds to the consumption of 40,000 two-person households and can displace more than 50,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year in the German electricity mix. The first solar park is located south of Flensburg in Silberstedt, details of the second location will be announced shortly.

"At Evonik, around 35 percent of electricity already comes from renewable sources worldwide today," said board member Thomas Wessel. Through the new agreements, this share will rise well above the 50 percent mark. The company aims to switch completely to green electricity by 2030.

Vattenfall Executive Board member Martijn Hagens also emphasized the importance of the German market as an opportunity for growth in renewable energies in Europe. The company sees a variety of chances for the development and marketing of solar, onshore, and offshore projects. "The electricity partnership with Evonik underlines our long-term goal of enabling a fossil-free life along the entire value chain," Hagens said.

Both companies emphasize that they expect investment security, supply security with green electricity, and risk diversification for both sides from this collaboration.

The Swedish State-Owned Company Vattenfall Employs Around 20,000 Employees and Has Approximately 14 Million Customers in Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and the United Kingdom. Evonik, a Chemical Company With More Than 34,000 Employees, Operates in Over 100 Countries.

On Friday, Evonik's share price in XETRA trading temporarily rose by 0.76 percent to 17.34 euros. Both companies see stronger investment security and further growth opportunities in the renewable energy sector in this partnership.
