Airbus secures billion-dollar contract with the Spanish Air Force

The Spanish Air Force is equipping itself with 16 Airbus C295 military aircraft for maritime surveillance.

As part of a planned modernization of its air force fleet, the Spanish government has signed a contract with aerospace company Airbus. This contract includes equipping the air force with 16 military aircraft of the Airbus C295 type for maritime surveillance. With a value of nearly 1.7 billion euros, this order is of great importance to the company.

The airplanes are being built at the Airbus factory in Sevilla, Spain, and are expected to be delivered starting from 2022. The decision to choose the C295 is not surprising, as the multi-purpose aircraft has already been successfully in use in several countries for several years. With its ability to perform maritime surveillance and other military operations, the C295 perfectly meets the requirements of the Spanish Air Force.

For Airbus, this order not only represents another collaboration with an important partner, but also a strengthening of the military aviation business branch. The company already recorded an increase in orders in the military aircraft sector in the first quarter of this year and expects a positive development for the remaining year as well.

This positive news is also reflected in the development of the Airbus stock. In XETRA trading, it closed 0.64 percent higher at 138.80 euros. Therefore, the decision of the Spanish government will not only ensure a strengthening of the air force, but also have a positive impact on the company and its shareholders.

The order underscores the efforts of the Spanish government to modernize its defense capabilities and adapt to the challenges of today's times. This is also an important signal for other European countries and could result in further orders for Airbus and its military aircraft.

The collaboration between Airbus and the Spanish government is not new and is based on long-standing experience and trust. With the Airbus C295, the Spanish Air Force receives a modern and reliable aircraft for its missions. This is a step that is of great importance not only for the country's security but also for the success of the aviation conglomerate.
