AI Startup for Humanoid Robots Raises 675 Million Dollars - Bezos and Nvidia on Board

The Silicon Valley company Figure designs robots intended to take on human tasks – the future is now.

"Figure, a Silicon Valley startup, is working on the development of robots that can take over human tasks. The goal is to create a humanoid robot that, thanks to artificial intelligence, can perform human-like tasks. With this promising concept, Jeff Bezos, Nvidia, and Microsoft, among others, have invested in the company Figure. In total, an impressive 675 million dollars have been invested in the AI robotics company, bringing Figure's valuation to 2.6 billion dollars. OpenAI has also participated in the funding."

Currently, the AI industry is fiercely competitive, and technology companies are not hesitating to invest large sums. Analysts are increasingly confident in the sustainable growth potential of AI, which is reflected in investments exceeding 29 billion dollars in generative AI companies last year. Chip manufacturer Nvidia, at the heart of the AI boom, has a market capitalization of 2 trillion dollars, making it one of the largest companies in the USA.

"Figure specializes in the development of humanoid robots powered by AI. The startup is closely collaborating with OpenAI to develop new AI models for human-like robots. Founded in 2022, the company is currently working on an industry-leading robot concept that can perform human-like tasks without human assistance. Figure is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, and recently showcased impressive videos of their robots, which seem to be straight out of a science fiction movie. For instance, one robot can insert a coffee capsule into a Keurig coffee machine after a human has placed a coffee mug. In another video, a robotic arm awkwardly makes its way through a room."

The recently received investment will accelerate the commercial implementation of Figure robots. The company has already signed an agreement with BMW to use their robots in car production. Brett Adcock, founder and CEO of Figure, expressed excitement and emphasized that the $675 million investment will ensure that Figure will transform the world with its humanoid robots sustainably. Other investors besides OpenAI include Parkway Venture Capital, Align Ventures, and Intel Capital, the venture capital arm of Intel. A statement from Microsoft and Nvidia was not initially available.

"Mark Lydon, Managing Director at Intel Capital, expressed enthusiasm about the potential of humanoid robots in the workplace. The investment in Figure is a clear signal that companies like Intel are convinced of the future of AI and are ready to invest in innovative ideas."
