In the 25th minute of Real Madrid's 2-0 victory over Real Sociedad, Moroccan international Brahim Díaz had to leave the field due to injury and was replaced by Rodrygo. On Sunday, a medical report from the club confirmed the diagnosis: an injury to the Musculus adductor longus in the right leg. This injury comes at an unfortunate time for the former Manchester City player, who had just made his first league start of the season after being used as a substitute in the previous four games. Díaz will be sorely missed in the next eight La Liga matches, including the eagerly anticipated first Clásico of the season against FC Barcelona on October 27. Díaz will also be absent in the Champions League, where Madrid faces Stuttgart on Tuesday, followed by games against Lille and Borussia Dortmund. The talented playmaker, who spent his youth years in the Spanish national team before opting to play for Morocco, spent the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons on loan at AC Milan, where he scored 18 goals in 124 matches. Díaz began his football career at Málaga before moving to Manchester City at the age of 14, where he made 15 appearances for the first team. In 2019, he eventually transferred to Real Madrid with a six-and-a-half-year contract.
