The billionaire entrepreneur and "Shark Tank" star Mark Cuban has expressed interest in acquiring Rupert Murdoch's Fox News and Elon Musk's X, formerly Twitter. However, there are several obstacles. In an interview with Wired magazine, Cuban stated that he is generally willing to purchase Fox News and X. “If I had enough money, which I don't, I would buy it in a heartbeat,” Cuban commented regarding Fox News. Cuban sees the acquisition of Fox News as a potential step to influence the so-called "Fox News Generation," which he believes has deviated from its youthful ideals. He estimates the acquisition costs of Fox News to be around 15 to 20 billion dollars. “I don’t have 15 to 20 billion dollars lying around in cash,” he further stated. Regarding Musk’s social media platform X, which the tech mogul purchased for 44 billion dollars in October 2022, Cuban expressed doubts about the feasibility of an acquisition. “He wouldn’t sell it,” he said. When further asked if he could convince Musk, Cuban replied, “I wish I could. There’s no reason for him to sell it.” In a previous "Ask Me Anything" session, Cuban discussed a wide range of topics, including his views about Musk and the changes made at X. Even then, the co-owner of the NBA team Dallas Mavericks was asked if he would buy the platform, to which he promptly responded, "Would Elon sell?" In August, Cuban also spoke about Musk's immense power and influence, particularly through his ownership of X. "Twitter gives him the ability to connect with the Prime Minister and the head of state of every country in the world," he said. This provides Musk with unparalleled control: "He can literally press as hard as he wants wherever his thumb goes." On the other hand, Fox News continues to face allegations of promoting political bias, spreading conservative views, and misleading its audience on important topics such as science and the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2021, the network was sued for defamation by voting machine companies because Fox hosts had knowingly spread falsehoods about the 2020 election.
