Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has undergone a complicated brain surgery and has already been discharged from the hospital. The 79-year-old will remain in Sao Paulo until Thursday for further recovery before returning to the capital, Brasilia. His doctors stated at a press conference in Sao Paulo that Lula will continue to be under medical observation and will undergo another CT scan during the week. The operation became necessary following a fall at his home and was not related to an illness, according to the attending neurologist Dr. Rogerio Tuma. The news has been closely followed by the public and Brazil's political elite. Many wish him a speedy recovery so that he can soon resume his duties in Brasilia.
