With impressive commitment and outstanding team performance, Georgia Tech managed to defeat the previously unbeaten North Carolina Tar Heels and continue their flawless season. Led by Tonie Morgan, who proudly scored 23 points, and the strong performance of reserve player Dani Carnegie with 22 points, the team from Atlanta triumphed 82-76. The Yellow Jackets dominated the opening game of the Atlantic Coast Conference to such an extent that they were already leading 66-45 after three quarters. Kara Dunn, Kayla Blackshear, and Zoesha Smith also contributed with double-digit scores, shooting an overall impressive 51.7 percent from the field and 16 of 18 free throws. On the Tar Heels side, where Maria Gakdeng shone with 21 points, the fighting spirit wasn't enough in the end to overcome Georgia Tech's lead. Despite solid performances from Indya Nivar, Reniya Kelly, and Lexie Donarski, North Carolina fell short of expectations, due in part to a significant rebound deficit of 41-24. A brief rally in the last seconds of the game could slightly embellish the outcome, but the eventual success of the Yellow Jackets was no longer in danger. Modern Financial Markets Data
