The NFL Sunday was overshadowed by a serious incident during the game between the Miami Dolphins and the Houston Texans. Grant DuBose, the Dolphins' receiver, had to be carried off the field on a stretcher following a heavy collision in the third quarter. The incident occurred when DuBose attempted to catch a pass and was struck by Texans safety Calen Bullock in a helmet-to-helmet collision. The impact caused DuBose to lie motionless on the field for about 15 minutes after his head also hit the ground hard. Bullock was penalized for unnecessary roughness for the reckless tackle. The Dolphins' medical staff responded swiftly, cutting the player's jersey to provide better treatment and securing his arms before placing him on a stretcher and removing him from the field. In an immediate statement, the Dolphins announced that DuBose would miss the rest of the game due to a head injury. According to a team spokesperson, the 23-year-old is in stable condition and was taken to a nearby hospital for further examination. The concern for the young athlete was also felt by his teammates, who soon after the incident gathered for a prayer circle on the sidelines. This game was only DuBose's third appearance this season after returning from a shoulder injury. Previously drafted as a seventh-round pick by the Green Bay Packers in 2023, he recently joined the Dolphins, where a promising career awaits him.
