Unfortunately, this was not true. According to a spokesperson for JPMorgan Chase, Mr. Dimon has not expressed any support in the presidential race and has not made any financial contributions to Mr. Trump or his Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris. The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the matter. This episode is part of a growing pattern of false claims by Mr. Trump that have been occurring more frequently recently. He also posted manipulated images suggesting that pop star Taylor Swift was a supporter of his—a claim that was later refuted by Ms. Swift herself. The origin of the post about Mr. Dimon's alleged support led back to X, where two right-wing accounts posted in this direction shortly after 12:30 p.m. Trump's own post followed about an hour and a half later. Mr. Dimon's spokespersons promptly denied the claim. These incidents highlight Mr. Trump's pattern of consuming news: he seems rarely to differentiate between credible news sources and social media before adopting and disseminating them. After landing at the airport in Augusta, Georgia, Mr. Trump appeared unaware of Dimon's alleged support when questioned by a reporter and left the post online despite denials. It should be noted that despite Mr. Trump's long-standing interest in Mr. Dimon and his influence on Wall Street, he may have resorted to untruths in response to the increasingly critical remarks from the banker. Mr. Dimon's wife is currently supporting President Biden and Kamala Harris with substantial financial contributions.
