The financial world mourns the loss of Frank Strauß, the former CEO of Postbank and a high-ranking manager at Deutsche Bank, who passed away unexpectedly at the age of 54. This was confirmed by Deutsche Bank in a recent announcement. The banker had left a significant impact on the corporation over several decades, especially in the segment for retail and business clients. Strauß began his journey to success with an apprenticeship as a bank clerk in the Westphalian city of Iserlohn, which was followed by his move to the financial hub of Frankfurt. There, he gained profound experience and delivered exceptional performances both at Deutsche Bank and its subsidiary Deutsche Bank 24. A notable stage in his career was taking over the management of the private and business clients division in Germany in 2006. With subsequent career moves, Strauß solidified his position in the banking world: In 2011, he opted for a switch to Postbank, where he progressed from chief of sales to CEO within a year. From 2017, Strauß also took on responsibilities at the group level, leading Deutsche Bank's private and corporate client bank until 2019. In this role, he initially worked alongside Christian Sewing, until after Sewing's promotion to CEO, Strauß assumed solo leadership. Christian Sewing himself publicly expressed deep regret and sorrow over the loss of Frank Strauß. He emphasized the nearly thirty years of service the deceased had contributed to the retail banking business both within Deutsche Bank and Postbank.
