  • Reports about Fake Interviews at Wells Fargo
  • Questions about the Authenticity of Wells Fargo's Diversity Campaigns

The American financial giant Wells Fargo is once again facing intense criticism following reports of sham job interviews. As early as 2022, initial information came to light suggesting that the company had allegedly conducted mock interviews with diverse candidates to formally comply with internal diversity and inclusion policies. Internal regulations stipulated that, in the hiring process for specific positions, so-called "diverse candidates"—including women and individuals from ethnic minorities—had to be considered. To formally meet these requirements, managers are alleged to have pre-assigned positions to white men before inviting, for example, a Black woman for an interview. According to the reports, these candidates' application documents were immediately disregarded, ultimately filling the vacant position as originally planned. These revelations cast a grim light on Wells Fargo's efforts to credibly implement the company's diversity goals. While other companies are making significant strides in promoting diversity and inclusion, Wells Fargo faces questions about their internal practices and the authenticity of their diversity campaigns. The matter continues to be closely monitored, as it carries potential legal and moral implications for the company and the entire industry.
