Diego Llorente, the 30-year-old Spanish defender, has played on loan at AS Roma for the past 18 months. He originally moved to the Italian club in January 2022 after extending his contract with Leeds United until 2026. Llorente joined Leeds United from Real Sociedad in the summer of 2020, costing the West Yorkshire club £18 million ($23.1 million). During his two and a half years with Leeds, he made 59 appearances and helped establish the team in the Premier League. In Rome, Llorente made 53 appearances for the Serie A club before now making the move to the Spanish league. Real Betis has already done business with Leeds United this summer: the midfielder Marc Roca was signed permanently after 37 loan appearances last season.
