In a historic moment in basketball history, LeBron James and his son Bronny took to the court together for the Los Angeles Lakers for the first time. This extraordinary event occurred during a pre-season game against the Phoenix Suns in Palm Desert, California, marking the first time a father-son duo played simultaneously for the same team in the NBA. Bronny James, who celebrated his 20th birthday this Sunday, entered the game in the second quarter and was immediately greeted with loud cheers by the fans in the Acrisure Arena. While LeBron, preparing for his 22nd season, was already on the court, his son committed two turnovers in the first two minutes of his playing time. Although LeBron passed him the ball and created an opportunity, Bronny was unable to make a three-pointer in the second quarter. LeBron James scored an impressive 19 points, five rebounds, and four assists in his 16 minutes on the court, while Bronny, who did not score in his 13 minutes, finished the game with two rebounds and four turnovers. The Lakers were defeated by the Suns 114-118. In his professional debut on Friday against the Minnesota Timberwolves, Bronny James made one shot in six attempts from the field and impressed with three blocks, while his father, who turns 40 in December, was resting. Bronny James was selected by the Lakers as the 55th pick in the second round of this year's NBA Draft after one season at the University of Southern California. After suffering a cardiac arrest during a workout in July 2023, he was quickly cleared medically and returned to the team. During his college season, he averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 25 games, starting in six of them.
