The prominent financial expert Jim Cramer expressed serious concern regarding Boeing's financial situation on CNBC's "Lightning Round." The aircraft manufacturer faces the challenge of laying off 17,000 employees—a drastic step taken in response to ongoing safety issues and strikes. Cramer underscored his doubts about Boeing's current financial condition. He criticized the company for failing to raise capital in a timely manner. He described the news as "shocking" and expressed significant doubts about whether Boeing could get the situation under control. For Boeing itself, this cutback doesn't come out of the blue. Following a multitude of issues, including the grounding of the 737 Max fleet and court admissions concerning numerous crashes of the model series, the company is increasingly making headlines. The fact that the workforce has been on strike in the factory since September further exacerbates Boeing's crisis. Kelly Ortberg, CEO of Boeing, emphasized that the layoffs are necessary to restore the company's financial stability. They affect about 10% of the workforce and are expected to take effect in the coming months. As a result, the delivery of the first 777X aircraft has also been postponed to 2026, further complicating the already complex situation. According to Ortberg, this step is intended to help lay the foundation for a sustainable recovery of the company.
