As voters in the USA head to the polls next month to decide on significant issues like foreign wars and social inequality, many are focusing primarily on employment. A recent study by FlexJobs reveals that one-third of respondents believe the election outcome will affect their professional situation, both positively and negatively. The study, based on a survey of 3,000 working professionals in the USA, highlights that the election campaign is already causing professional tensions. Many are hoping for a swift end to the campaign, as political unrest is affecting their work environment. For 68% of the respondents, the result will not impact their careers, regardless of whether Donald Trump or Kamala Harris wins. However, 32% think differently, which could be significant for professionals when the new president assumes office in January. Interestingly, of those who fear a significant impact on their careers, 19% expect positive and 13% negative consequences. Women are slightly more optimistic than men, who are somewhat more pessimistic about the potential effects. The main concerns include job search difficulties, increased stress, stagnant salaries, and losses in income and working hours. Additionally, the report found a link between a company's political stance and its ability to attract and retain talent. For 6 out of 10 respondents, a company's political orientation is a decisive factor in their choice of employer. However, with good pay and job satisfaction, 71% are willing to work for a company whose political views they do not fully share. Nonetheless, about 30% strictly refuse to work for an employer with incompatible political views, with women being even more resolute in this regard.
