Diplomatic Tensions and Military Escalation: Israel Attacks Suburbs of Beirut

An Israeli airstrike hit the southern suburbs of Beirut in the early hours of Wednesday, eyewitnesses reported. This occurred at a time when the United States expressed concerns about the extent of Israeli strikes, and the tense situation further escalates amid a rising death toll. Concerns extend to possible Iranian involvement in the conflict. Witnesses described hearing an explosion and observing plumes of smoke after the Israeli military had urged residents to evacuate a building. Amidst these tensions, Hezbollah hinted at painful retaliation but also called for a ceasefire. The ongoing conflicts have devastating humanitarian consequences: Lebanese health ministries report thousands of dead and wounded, with over a million people displaced. The main operational area of the Israeli forces includes the Bekaa Valley, the suburbs of Beirut, and the south of the country.
