Xiaomi ventures into the automotive business and presents its first electric car model, the SU7 sedan. The electronics company, known for its smartphones, tablets, and headphones, is responding to the booming market for electric vehicles. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun unveiled the vehicle in Beijing and announced that it will be available for purchase starting from 2025. The company's goal is to become one of the top five automobile manufacturers globally within 15 to 20 years. Lei emphasized that Xiaomi aims to build a "dream car comparable to Porsche and Tesla."

With its entry into the automotive industry, Xiaomi aims to further strengthen its position as one of China's largest smartphone manufacturers. The company also produces tablets, smartwatches, headphones, and electric scooters alongside smartphones. Lei also emphasized that all Xiaomi devices could be connected to vehicles using the company's own software, highlighting another strength of the corporation.

Xiaomi announced as early as 2021, to enter the automotive industry. The vehicles will be produced by the Chinese manufacturer BAIC, while the batteries will be supplied by BYD and CATL companies. With a range of 800 kilometers, the electric cars are not only technologically impressive but also meet the demands of consumers.

Xiaomi was founded in 2010 and has quickly grown through its strategy of offering technically high-quality devices at relatively affordable prices. However, in 2021, the company came under scrutiny by the United States due to alleged connections with the Chinese military. Despite these challenges, Xiaomi continues on its path of success and constantly expands its product portfolio.

Numerous domestic and foreign automotive manufacturers compete for customers in China, the world's largest market for electric cars. BYD, a Chinese manufacturer, took the top spot in November 2021 with over 300,000 cars sold, followed by the American manufacturer Tesla with 80,000 cars sold.

The introduction of Xiaomi's first electric car marks an important step for the company and the future of the automotive industry. With its expertise in the technology and electronics sector, as well as its commitment to innovation and quality, Xiaomi has all the prerequisites to be successful in the automotive industry as well. The coming years will show whether the company can achieve its ambitious goal and establish itself as one of the leading global car manufacturers.
