Tesla consistently and significantly exceeds permissible wastewater limits in Grünheide near Berlin, according to the Strausberg-Erkner Water Association (WSE). This is reported by "Stern". The WSE has a draft resolution that classifies the values for refractory phosphorus as well as total nitrogen as problematic.

In light of several unsuccessful demands and warnings, the association is determined to act: An extraordinary association meeting at the beginning of March is to clarify whether the wastewater disposal at Tesla will be stopped. A possible disruption of the Münchehofe sewage treatment plant could cause additional costs in the millions.

In contrast, Tesla emphasizes its efforts to fully recover process wastewater through its own wastewater treatment plants. Only wastewater from sanitary facilities and kitchens is still present to a small extent.

Yet there seem to be discrepancies between the car manufacturer and the WSE: Tesla claims to have not yet been informed about the extraordinary meeting, while the association is already considering possible measures.

At the stock exchange, the Tesla share remains stable despite the news and is trading at a pre-market NASDAQ increase of 1.34 percent at 202.07 US dollars.

For the Strausberg-Erkner Water Association (WSE) and Tesla, it remains to be seen how the situation will develop in the coming weeks. However, an end to the idyllic relationship between the carmaker and the region around Grünheide seems inevitable.
