MicroStrategy, Known for Its Extensive Bitcoin Investments, Faces Inclusion in the Prestigious MSCI World Index. Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) regularly reviews the composition of its indices. Following the current quarterly review, the MSCI World Index will be expanded to include 42 companies, including MicroStrategy, while 121 constituents will be removed.

Among the most significant new additions are MicroStrategy, the data storage company Pure Storage, and the mechanical and electrical engineering group EMCOR. According to Kenny Ng, a strategist at China Everbright Securities International, these companies represent the development of the New Economy.

In the MSCI Emerging Markets Index, the Indian Canara Bank, the Indonesian chemical company Chandra Asri Pacific, and the Indian power producer JSW Energy are among the largest new additions. The MSCI Frontier Markets Index is expanded by nine companies, including the Kazakh airline Air Astana, the Croatian electrical equipment manufacturer Koncar Distributivni I, and the Romanian telecommunications company Digi Communications.

These changes will come into effect at the close of trading on May 31, ensuring that investors who invest in MSCI World ETFs from iShares, Invesco, xTrackers, and others will also be indirectly involved with Bitcoin from that point onward, as MicroStrategy holds significant amounts of the cryptocurrency. The inclusion of MicroStrategy in the MSCI Index is seen as another step towards the acceptance of cryptocurrencies in traditional investment portfolios.
