During the preparations for the construction of the planned chip factories of the US company Intel in Magdeburg, delays are occurring. The tendering process for the removal of topsoil on the construction site will only take place after consultation with Intel and depending on the EU notification procedure. Last year, the federal government approved state aid of 9.9 billion euros for the settlement, but it still needs to be confirmed by the EU.

The Magdeburg Drinking Water Supply (TWM) pointed out that there is enough water available for the currently planned expansion stage with two chip factories. The city of Magdeburg plans to reactivate an old waterworks north of Magdeburg in the Colbitz-Letzlinger Heide.

The State Administration Office received 13 objections following the public disclosure of the planning documents. In addition to water supply, the issues also concerned soil, nature, and species protection. The State Administration Office is currently reviewing the objections and will then decide on the US company's application.

The Intel stock temporarily loses 1.79 percent to $30.51.
