The electric vehicle market is booming and Tesla is one of the pioneers in this field. According to a survey by TeslaMag, based on data from the Australian website Compare the Market, the company now ranks second in a global ranking of the most searched car brands. Tesla was able to win the search comparison in a total of 29 countries, including the USA and various European countries.

The first place went to the Japanese manufacturer Toyota, which is the most searched automobile brand in 64 countries. Toyota was particularly successful in various regions such as Central and South Africa, West and Southeast Asia, Oceania, and parts of South America.

A possible explanation for the strong increase in interest in Tesla could be the recently introduced Cybertruck. The SUV, which with its futuristic design reminds one of a vehicle from a science fiction movie, has a towing capacity of 4,990 kilograms and a range of 547 kilometers. The delivery of the trucks started at the end of November, but for now only in North America.

But not only positive news accompanies the success of Tesla. As the Münchner Merkur reports, the angular design of the Cybertruck could pose a safety risk to other road users. As a result, approval in the EU with the current regulations is rather unlikely.

Tesla's in-house Autopilot system also comes under criticism. The US traffic authority NHTSA recently announced that two million cars in the US need to be updated due to inadequate safety measures of the Autopilot, in order to reduce the risk of accidents. This means that a new software update must be installed on the S, X, 3, and Y models. The authority also announced to further investigate the effectiveness of this measure.

Despite the current challenges, Tesla remains one of the most sought-after car brands worldwide. With future models and innovations, such as the planned Model Y, the company could further establish itself in the global market. Competitors from Asia and Europe will have to step up their game to keep up with the growing interest in electric vehicles. Tesla continues to be a driving force in the industry and shapes the future of mobility.
