Apple is expected to unveil the next generation of its iPhone models in two weeks. The technology company has invited people to a new products event at its headquarters in Cupertino on September 9. Traditionally, these September events not only present the new iPhones but also updates for the Apple Watch. As usual, Apple is keeping the details of what to expect at the event under wraps.
The iPhone remains the most important product in the company's portfolio, contributing around half of the total revenue. Additionally, it forms the basis for the sale of other products like earphones and subscriptions for various services.
According to information from the financial service Bloomberg, no major design changes are expected for the iPhone 16 this year. However, the more expensive Pro models might be equipped with larger displays. Additionally, there is speculation about an additional shutter button for the camera, which could provide photographers with even better handling.
Apple is paying special attention this year to the integration of artificial intelligence into its devices. Several new features based on this technology are planned. However, some of these innovations will initially not be available in the European Union. Apple cites legal uncertainties related to the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which introduces new rules for large platforms.
The announcement of the event does not seem to particularly impress investors: Apple shares recorded a temporary decline of 0.35 percent to $226.05 in NASDAQ trading. This might indicate that investors do not expect spectacular innovations and are preparing for proven developments.
