Tesla Recalls 3,878 Cybertrucks to Repair or Replace Faulty Accelerator Pedals After Issues with the Pedal Were Revealed That Can Lead to Unintended Acceleration. This Is the Latest Issue for the World's Most Valuable Automaker Struggling with Declining Sales Figures and a Falling Stock Price.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) stated that the gas pedal pad could come loose and jam, increasing the risk of an accident. The agency explained that soap used during vehicle assembly contributed to the pad being less likely to stick to the gas pedal. According to the agency, Tesla has not reported any accidents, injuries, or fatalities related to the issue.

The recall affects Cybertrucks manufactured from November to April. Tesla has not disclosed how many Cybertrucks were sold, but the number of recalled vehicles — 3,878 — might provide a clue. Tesla will replace or repair the accelerator assembly free of charge. The NHTSA has informed Tesla that the automaker has 60 days to notify owners about the recall.

The Cheapest Cybertruck Model Currently Available for Delivery Costs About $80,000, While a More Expensive Version, Dubbed the Cyberbeast, Starts at About $100,000, According to Tesla's Website. In Comparison, the most Affordable Model 3 Costs Less Than a Third of the Price of the Cyberbeast.

Tesla's stock has fallen 40% so far this year as of the market close on Thursday. The company announced this week that it will lay off more than 10% of its global workforce. Two of Musk's top managers also said that they will be leaving Tesla.

This recall is the latest issue for the world's most valuable car manufacturer, which is experiencing ongoing challenges in its operating business. The NHTSA said that by Wednesday, all Cybertrucks in production had a new accelerator component. Cybertrucks at the delivery centers should be repaired prior to delivery to customers.
