Elon Musk has announced that the headquarters of his companies X Corp. and SpaceX will be moved from California to Texas. This decision followed after California's Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new law that prevents schools from informing families if their children identify as gay or transgender.

‘This is the last straw,’ wrote Musk on X, the social media platform he operates. He criticized the law as well as ‘many others that attack families and businesses.’

According to the new law, school districts are not allowed to require employees to disclose information about a student's sexual orientation or gender identity without the student's consent. Proponents of the law argue that it protects children from being involuntarily outed and provides them with a safe space at school. Critics, on the other hand, view it as a violation of parental rights.

Musk announced that SpaceX will move its headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to Texas, where the company is expanding its Starbase location near Brownsville. X, formerly Twitter, will relocate from San Francisco to Austin, Texas.

I am tired of avoiding violent drug addicts just to get into the building," said Musk about the current situation of X in San Francisco.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott commented on the announcement, saying the move by SpaceX "cements Texas as a leading location for space exploration.

These announcements followed shortly after Musk officially declared his support for Donald Trump on Saturday. According to the Wall Street Journal, Musk plans to invest about $45 million per month in a Super-PAC supporting Trump's presidential campaign.

X, which had previously been based in San Francisco's Mid-Market district, is now expanding in Texas. At the beginning of the year, the company announced that it would hire employees in Austin to focus on content security issues.

As for the fate of X's headquarters in San Francisco, it is still unclear whether the company will maintain its presence in the area. This could lead to a similar arrangement as with Tesla's "Engineering Headquarters" in Palo Alto, California, even though the company is based in Texas.

SpaceX already has a significant footprint in Texas and continues to expand its presence there. In addition to manufacturing Starlink user terminals near Austin, the company also tests engines and other hardware in McGregor, near Waco.

Starbase, the future headquarters of SpaceX, spans multiple properties near the tidal flats and parks. The site employs more than 1,800 people and is referred to by SpaceX as the 'Gateway to Mars.'

The move of the headquarters to Texas marks a symbolic end of an era for SpaceX, which was founded by Musk in Southern California over two decades ago.
