Young winger Ben Doak attracts interest from Premier League clubs

Leicester City and Southampton are among the teams that have expressed interest in the 18-year-old Scottish winger Ben Doak. Doak, who came into the spotlight after his strong performance in the 1-0 victory against Real Betis in Pittsburgh last Friday, is eager for regular playing time to leave behind a season marred by injuries. In the first half of the 2023-24 season, Doak made five appearances for Liverpool, filling in for Mohamed Salah. However, a knee injury required surgical intervention and forced him to take a break. Initially, he played a crucial role in the Scottish national team and was even nominated for the European Championship. Another fitness issue, however, prevented his participation in the tournament in Germany. Now fully recovered, Doak aims to make up for lost time. He is aware that his chances of playing for Liverpool in the coming season might be limited. Liverpool coach Arne Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes are aware of the young talent's aspirations and plan to sit down with him to discuss the way forward after the current US preparatory tour. Another Liverpool youth player, Luke Chambers, is attracting interest from Wigan Athletic, which is interested in a loan deal. For the moment, however, Chambers remains part of Slot's squad in the USA, as the club takes its time to make a final decision regarding his future.
