The United States has announced its decision to deploy an advanced missile defense system to Israel, which will be operated by US troops. This measure aims to strengthen the country's air defense in response to recent missile attacks from Iran. President Joe Biden stated that this is a step towards defending Israel. According to Pat Ryder, a Pentagon spokesperson, the deployment of a Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery will complement Israel's existing air defense system. This deployment is part of a broader adjustment of US military strategy to support Israel's defense and ensure the security of Americans against attacks by Iran and Iran-backed militias. Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi expressed concerns and warned that the security of US troops could be jeopardized by their deployment in Israel. He also emphasized that despite efforts to prevent an open war in the region, Iran will make no compromises in defending its interests. Previously, Iran had carried out missile and drone attacks against Israel both in April and on October 1, most of which were intercepted. However, some missiles reached their targets, attributed to the increasing tensions between Israel and the Iran-supported Hezbollah in Lebanon.
