Unilever Takes a Closer Look at Brands' Focus Alignment

Eulerpool News·

In a strategic move to boost growth and profitability, the consumer goods conglomerate Unilever has announced a sweeping restructuring. The London-based company plans to divest its lucrative ice cream division to focus more intensely on selected brands that occupy leading positions in the market. The target year for the complete spin-off of this sector, which recorded an impressive turnover of 7.9 billion euros in 2023 with popular creations like Magnum, has been set for 2025. Furthermore, the decided corporate restructuring includes considerations of additional separation methods aimed at optimizing shareholder returns. Once the ice cream segment has been divested, Unilever intends to consolidate its presence in the four core areas: "Beauty and Wellbeing", "Personal Care", "Home Care", and "Nutrition", with brands such as Dove, Vaseline, Axe, Rexona, Domestos, Cif, and Knorr expected to lead the way. The planned program of measures to increase productivity will result in a reduction of about 7,500 staff positions, with forecasts promising to save around 800 million euros over the next three years.
