Ukrainian Precision Strikes in Russia's Heartland

The Ukrainian army recently successfully struck an ammunition depot at a Russian airbase in the Adygea region of the North Caucasus. This base, located about 450 kilometers from the Ukrainian frontline, was targeted in a nighttime drone attack, the damage of which is currently being assessed. The attack was directed at the Khanskaya Airfield, which housed 57 Russian combat and training aircraft, as well as helicopters, including models such as the Su-34 and Su-35. This operation underscores Kyiv's ongoing effort to hit military targets deep within Russia and to limit Moscow's flight capabilities. The response to the attack was swift: the surrounding village of Rodnikovy was evacuated due to a resulting fire. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties, as noted by Murat Kumpilov, the regional head of Adygea, in a Telegram post. In addition to this target in Adygea, a base in the southern Russian region of Krasnodar, where Shahed drones are stored, was also attacked, as well as an arms depot in the Russian region of Bryansk. These operations are part of a strategic initiative involving the use of long-range drones to reduce Moscow's attack capabilities. Kyiv is currently intensifying its efforts to lift its allies' restrictions on the use of their weapons for long-range targets on Russian soil.
