The cooperation between Toyota and Suzuki is in full swing and will be celebrated in January with the unveiling of a new model at the Brussels Motor Show. The Urban Cruiser, which is expected to resemble the Suzuki eVX concept in its external appearance, joins the lineup as an SUV and impresses with versatility featuring front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The vehicle is manufactured at the Suzuki plant in Hansalpur, Gujarat, and from there it is exported to the European market by Toyota Motor Europe. The model offers an electric alternative to the existing Yaris Cross Hybrid with battery capacities of 49 kWh and 61 kWh, targeting the B/C segments. Based on Suzuki's new Heartect-e platform, the e-Vitara and the Urban Cruiser share not only the production line but also the same wheelbase length of 2,700 mm. The engines range from 106 kW to 128 kW for the front-wheel-drive versions and go up to 135 kW for the all-wheel-drive version with an impressive 300 Nm of torque. Sales launch in European markets is planned for the third quarter of next year and will be available for both left-hand and right-hand drive variants.
