The Slovenian cycling star Tadej Pogacar has once again made history by winning the prestigious Giro di Lombardia for the fourth consecutive time. On the 255-kilometer course from Bergamo to Como, Pogacar executed an impressive solo attack, leaving his rivals with no chance once more. After UAE Team Emirates neutralized an early breakaway attempt, Pogacar launched his decisive attack on the climb to Colma di Sormano, still 48 kilometers from the finish. Not even the Belgian Olympic champion Remco Evenepoel could catch Pogacar on the descent, which allowed his lead to grow even further. Pogacar's tactically astute and powerful performance earned him not only the Lombardia triumph but also capped an incredibly remarkable season, which he finished in the rainbow jersey as the world champion. Italy's Giulio Ciccone managed to secure third place, providing some cheer for the home fans. These successes are part of a season full of outstanding achievements, including victories at the Strade Bianche, the classic race Liège-Bastogne-Liège, as well as his triumph at the Giro d'Italia in May and his third victory at the Tour de France. With this, Pogacar also claimed the rare honor of the "Triple Crown" in cycling. Giro legend Fausto Coppi is the only other rider to win the Giro di Lombardia four times in a row, but Pogacar seems eager to write many more chapters in his career. "After my career, we'll see where I stand in cycling history," Pogacar commented modestly.
