Ericsson achieved solid results in the third quarter of 2024, despite a continued challenging market environment. Under the leadership of CEO Börje Ekholm and CFO Lars Sandström, the technology giant focused on strategic and operational execution to strengthen its technological leadership. Ericsson's strategy aims to develop programmable networks of the future, offering new applications that enable differentiated performance for diverse use cases. This concept opens up new revenue streams for telecom operators beyond the consumer market and is considered crucial for the industry's long-term growth. Despite general challenges in the global RAN market, Ericsson recorded strong growth in North America. There, revenues increased by 55% compared to the previous year, supported by a significant contract with AT&T. In other regions such as Southeast Asia and India, revenues declined, primarily due to normalization following the 5G expansion in the previous year. Further strategic steps include the initiation of a joint venture with 12 global operators to market network APIs. This initiative aims to enable innovations and unlock new revenue sources. The sale of the subsidiary iconectiv, which requires regulatory approval, will strengthen Ericsson's focus on core areas. Even though there are short-term challenges in the enterprise segment, Ericsson remains confident about the long-term outlook. The hypothesis is that pursuing higher enterprise sales and programmable networks will open the door to significant growth opportunities. Analysts expect that this evolving market will not only transform the mobile network market but also thrive in new dimensions in the long term.
