A bitter blow for the Dallas Cowboys: The All-Pro cornerback Trevon Diggs will not participate in the upcoming away game against the Carolina Panthers. Multiple sources report that Diggs requires knee surgery, ending his season.
Recently, Diggs had returned to play against the Cincinnati Bengals after an extended absence due to groin and knee issues, a game the Cowboys lost 20-27. This season has been marked by injuries, and the defensive pro has so far started only 11 games—yet he collected a remarkable 42 tackles, two interceptions, and defended 11 passes.
A déjà vu for Diggs: In the previous season, he also suffered a knee injury when he tore his ACL before Week 3 and played only two games that season. Since being selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Cowboys, his record in 58 regular-season games is notable: 215 tackles, one sack, 63 passes defended, and 20 interceptions, including two touchdowns.
Unfortunately, the Cowboys' streak of bad luck continues. Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown was also placed on the injured list after his knee injury in the fourth quarter of the game against the Bengals. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed that Overshown also needs surgery and will be out for the rest of the season.
The Cowboys, currently with a 5-8 NFL record, are reacting to the absences. Cornerback Andrew Booth and center Dakoda Shepley have been promptly promoted from the practice squad to the active roster for the game against the Panthers, who have a 3-10 record. Modern Financial Markets Data
