Amazon is in the spotlight as supporters of Israel express disappointment over a recently released video for an upcoming AWS event in Las Vegas. The video features Ruba Borno, the Vice President of AWS for Global Specialist and Partner Organizations, wearing a piece of jewelry that has sparked strong reactions. The pendant on her necklace, shaped like Israel and adorned with a Palestinian flag, is being widely discussed. An Amazon spokesperson initially did not comment on Borno's choice of jewelry, as reported by Jewish Insider. Upon inquiry from TipRanks, however, an Amazon spokesperson responded: "The violence and daily loss of life in the Middle East are tragic, and at Amazon, our thoughts are with all those affected. Our leadership remains in regular contact with our teams in the region to offer support. The video was not intended as a political statement, but it has been removed and will be reposted in the coming days." Nonetheless, this incident is causing unrest in Israel's technology sector. The pendant is reminiscent of the controversial slogan "From the river to the sea," used in anti-Israel demonstrations. At present, Amazon remains stable: A decline of only 2% over the past three months is contrasted by a 2.8% increase in the last half-year. Analysts remain optimistic, expecting an 18.8% increase in Amazon's stock value. In Israel, often referred to as the "start-up nation," such an incident meets with incomprehension. Some executives are announcing plans to turn away from AWS and switch to alternative solutions, which could benefit competitors like Microsoft. Current and former employees of Amazon are also voicing their opinions on this incident. It remains to be seen whether Amazon's stock price will decline as a result of this incident.
