Novak Djokovic, the legendary 24-time Grand Slam winner, is confident and looking forward to an exciting duel with world number one Jannik Sinner in the final of the Shanghai Masters on Sunday. In the semifinals, Djokovic impressed with a 6-4, 7-6(6) victory over American Taylor Fritz and is now heading into his fifth final at this tournament. The Serbian master is aiming not only for his 100th ATP title but also for his fifth victory at the Shanghai Masters. The Italian top seed, Jannik Sinner, secured his spot in the final with a 6-4, 7-5 win over Czech Tomas Machac in the semifinals, as well as the coveted top position in the ATP year-end rankings. Although Sinner has won three of their last four encounters against Djokovic, the experienced Serb remains unfazed. At 37 years old and after a brief knee injury complaint, which has since subsided, Djokovic sees himself in a challenging role. "I won’t go onto the court as the favorite, but hopefully I am physically fit enough to challenge him if it becomes a long match," Djokovic explained. The encounter will be a rematch of the Australian Open semifinal, where Sinner defeated Djokovic 6-1, 6-2, 6-7(6), 6-3, ending his impressive 33-match winning streak. Despite 54 unforced errors back then, Djokovic is optimistic about turning the match in his favor this time. "I expect probably the toughest match of the tournament. We know each other well, and it will require my best tennis to win," the Serb said confidently.
