After mutually agreeing to terminate his contract with Chelsea, Malang Sarr has reached an agreement to transfer to the French club Lens. Sarr will not receive any compensation for the final year of his contract. The official confirmation of his arrival at Lens is expected shortly. Sarr joined Chelsea from Nice four years ago and spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Porto, where he made 19 first-team appearances. He then returned to Chelsea for another season, making 21 appearances in various competitions. During the 2022-23 season, the defender played 22 matches on loan at Monaco before not featuring in any games under Mauricio Pochettino for Chelsea last season. Sarr began his career at Nice, where he debuted as a 17-year-old and made 119 first-team appearances before joining Chelsea as a free agent. The 25-year-old has represented France up to the U21 level but is also eligible to play for the Senegal national team.
