Leicester City has completed the transfer of 22-year-old defender Caleb Okoli from Atalanta. The young Italian signed a five-year contract with the 'Foxes'. Okoli spent last season on loan at Frosinone, which finished 18th in the Serie A and was relegated. With the acquisition of Okoli, Leicester continues its search for defensive reinforcements, bringing in the third new addition this summer. In addition to Okoli, Leicester secured the permanent signing of teenage midfielder Michael Golding from Chelsea. Furthermore, Bobby De-Cordova Reid joined on a free transfer from Fulham. The signing of Abdul Fatawu from Sporting Lisbon for £14 million ($16.4 million) is also imminent, following the player's successful loan spell with the 'Foxes'. Caleb Okoli, trained in the youth ranks of Atalanta, has played several seasons on loan at various clubs, including SPAL and Cremonese, before his stint at Frosinone. Overall, he made 17 first-team appearances for Atalanta. Leicester City is making significant efforts to strengthen its squad in the current transfer window but is also facing investigations by the Premier League. The club has been referred to an independent commission due to an alleged breach of the Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for the three-year period up to the 2022/23 season. Just this month, Leicester sold academy product Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea, in the hope that this transfer would alleviate concerns regarding compliance with the PSR regulations.
