After suffering a severe cardiac arrest in the summer of 2022, former co-owner of the Buffalo Bills, Kim Pegula, attended the team's training camp practice on Friday. Her husband, Terry Pegula, owner of the Bills, supported her and guided her from the family vehicle to Coach Sean McDermott and the assembled roster. After the team finished their meeting, Kim Pegula returned to the vehicle, which departed shortly thereafter. This summer, she has participated in the first three training sessions, though she had only observed them from the vehicle until now. This was the first time she exited the SUV. Following the cardiac arrest in 2022, it became known in early 2023 that Kim Pegula suffers from expressive aphasia. In May, Tim Graham of The Athletic revealed that Terry Pegula had filed a petition in February 2023 to have his wife declared incapacitated and to be appointed as her guardian. In March, a judge appointed Terry Pegula as a 'plenary guardian,' which meant that many of Kim's assets were transferred to a trust, where Terry is one of the co-trustees. Although Kim Pegula no longer holds the title of team president of the Bills, she is still listed as an owner in the team's media guide. According to her official biography, the cardiac arrest 'significantly impacts her daily life,' and she is currently undergoing long-term physical and occupational therapy.
