International Container Terminal Service opens state-of-the-art terminal in East Java

The Philippine company International Container Terminal Service (ICTSI) has recently commenced operations at the new East Java Multipurpose Terminal (EJMT) in Lamongan district, Indonesia. The new terminal aims to become the most advanced trade hub in East Java and cater to a wide range of freight requirements. The construction of the terminal was completed within a period of 18 months. It features a 300-meter-long quay, a deep-water draft of 13.5 meters, a 500-meter-wide turning basin, and advanced handling facilities for general cargo, project shipments, and containers. Two of the largest post-Panamax harbor mobile cranes in the region are in operation here. According to EJMT CEO Patrick Chan, the strategically located facility at Terminal Umum Tanjung Pakis - Pelabuhan Brondong offers an attractive option for customers in Lamongan, Tuban, and even Central Java for national and international trade demands. Thanks to the deep port facility and the largest mobile harbor cranes in East Java, larger ships can be handled, enabling customers to load more cargo and reduce costs per unit. Another feature is the adjoining Lamongan Shorebase, operated by Eastern Logistics. The strategic location near key industrial hubs is designed to optimize supply chains and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Near the terminal lies the 500-hectare I-Sentra industrial park by Jakamitra, providing space for new ventures. David Lim, CEO of Eastern Logistics, emphasizes that the new international line connections now allow oil and gas customers to import materials directly to Lamongan Shorebase, minimizing transit times and logistics costs. In December 2022, ICTSI also secured a new 30-year lease for the Baltic Container Terminal (BCT) in Gdynia, Poland.
