Barcelona experiences another setback in their personnel. Young midfielder Fermin Lopez will be unavailable for another three weeks due to a thigh injury. The 21-year-old player sustained the injury during training on Tuesday morning. The club confirmed in a statement that Lopez suffered an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in the right quadriceps. This means another enforced break for Lopez, who recently missed two weeks due to a thigh injury. Lopez sustained the previous injury during his stint with the Spanish U21 national team. He then returned to Barcelona for medical examination and to begin his recovery process. This season, Lopez has played three matches for Barcelona, each as a substitute. He last appeared in the 7-0 victory against Real Valladolid on August 31. A product of the famous La Masia academy, Lopez made his breakthrough into the first team last season, scoring eleven goals in 42 appearances. Lopez was also part of the Spanish squad for the European Championship, where he featured as a substitute for 28 minutes in the group stage match against Albania. He made his national team debut in a friendly match against Andorra earlier this year. Barcelona will also be without new signing Dani Olmo, who is out for four to five weeks due to a thigh injury. The Spanish international was substituted in the 61st minute of the 4-1 win against Girona and is expected to return by the end of October.
