A serious incident shook the city of Tequila in Mexico on Tuesday. An explosion occurred at the renowned Jose Cuervo Tequila factory, followed by a fire. According to a spokesman for the local government, Andrés Chávez, the events have been confirmed. Mr. Chávez was available for a brief phone interview on Tuesday evening but was unable to confirm reports of fatalities and injuries. The incident occurred in the center of Tequila, as reported by the Mexican news portal Milenio. Tequila is located about 40 miles northwest of Guadalajara in the western state of Jalisco. Tequila's mayor, José Alfonso Magallanes, informed via social media that firefighters and other emergency responders were still on site and the situation had not yet been brought under control. There has been no statement from the Jose Cuervo company leadership so far. A woman who answered the phone at the local fire department said she was not authorized to release information.
