A flight of Swiss International Air Lines, en route from Bucharest to Zurich, was forced to make an emergency landing in Graz on Monday due to engine problems and smoke inside the cabin. This unforeseen interruption of the journey, however, proceeded smoothly as the situation was handled professionally. On board the Airbus A220-300 were 74 passengers and five crew members. Following the safe landing in Graz, all passengers were evacuated, as the airline announced in a statement. Twelve passengers required medical attention, and one of the crew members was taken by helicopter to a hospital for further treatment, with their health status remaining unclear. In addition, the remaining four crew members received medical care. Despite these challenges, Swiss is ensuring that the stranded travelers can continue their planned journey: A replacement flight will bring the passengers from Graz to Zurich on Tuesday morning.
