The British government is on the verge of unveiling multi-billion-dollar deals in AI and life sciences at an international investment summit in London. However, the absence of Elon Musk, the controversial CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, raises questions. Peter Kyle, the Technology Secretary, addressed this in an interview with Times Radio, clarifying that Musk rarely attends such events. Previous reports suggested that Musk's polarizing social media posts during the summer unrest might be the reason for the non-invitation, which Kyle dismissed. Kyle left open the possibility that the government would be ready to discuss potential investments with Musk, even though none are currently on the horizon. He also praised Musk's recent successful rocket launch. Government sources dismissed rumors that Musk's comments about Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer—whom he referred to as 'Two-Class Keir'—played a role. The government's focus, according to Kyle, is on openness to business, regardless of political differences. Interestingly, Musk had previously expressed skepticism about British justice policy on his platform X. The government implemented a program releasing 1,700 prisoners early to make room in the overcrowded justice system—a measure that does not include sex offenders. In his opening speech at the summit, Prime Minister Sir Keir will outline his plans to abolish unnecessary regulations that could hinder investment. He emphasizes the government's goal to boost the economy and position Britain as a reliable investment destination. 'We have a unique opportunity,' he will say, 'to stay this course and lay the foundation for sustainable growth. Trust us on this.'
