China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi has accused the Philippine government of repeatedly violating agreements in the escalating conflict in the South China Sea. In a meeting with Philippine Foreign Minister Enrique Manalo on the sidelines of a regional forum in the Laotian capital Vientiane, Wang expressed concerns regarding the stationed US intermediate-range missiles on Philippine soil, as reported by the state news agency Xinhua on Saturday. Wang emphasized that at a time when relations between the two countries are already strained, it is difficult to build good relations, yet very easy to destroy them. The references to military tensions and geopolitical maneuvers highlight the volatile climate in the region, which requires diplomatic finesse from both sides.
