The 19-year-old national player for the U.S. men's team, Caleb Wiley, is on the verge of a transfer to Chelsea. The transfer is expected to cost the Premier League club around 8.5 million pounds (approximately 10.9 million US dollars). Wiley will sign a contract binding him to the club until June 2031. The talented left-back is initially planned to be loaned to the French club Strasbourg to gain regular first-team experience. The negotiations for the transfer went smoothly, attributed to the good relations between the Premier League club and the representatives of Major League Soccer. Wiley, who was called up to the United States roster for the Paris Olympics on Monday, has made two appearances for the senior national team. He made his debut last year but did not play under Gregg Berhalter at the Copa America. Chelsea is showing considerable activity in the current transfer period, particularly in the pursuit of young talents. They have already secured Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa and striker Marc Guiu from Barcelona. Additional signings, such as Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino and versatile defender Renato Veiga from FC Basel, are also nearing completion.
