Atalanta signs Nicolo Zaniolo on loan

Nicolo Zaniolo has joined Atalanta on a one-season loan from Galatasaray. The deal includes an obligation to buy under certain conditions, marking his return to Serie A after an 18-month absence. During the 2023-24 season, Zaniolo was on loan at Aston Villa, where he played 39 matches in all competitions and scored three goals. Although the loan contract with Aston Villa included a purchase option, The Athletic reported in January that it was unlikely this transfer would be made permanent. The attacking midfielder began his professional career at Virtus Entella in Serie B, where he broke into the first team in 2016 before moving to Inter Milan in 2017. The following season, he joined AS Roma, where he stayed for four and a half years. During his time in Rome, he made his debut for the Italian national team in 2019 and won the Europa Conference League in 2022. In February, he transferred to Galatasaray for 15 million Euros before moving to Aston Villa that following summer.
